St John’s Home is a residential care home for the elderly, situated in three acres of beautiful grounds of the Society of All Saints Sisters of the Poor in East Oxford. Originally built in the 1870’s, the Home is a friendly, rambling building with a character and atmosphere all of its own.

We are continuing to update our website, so there may be some pages that we have not yet completed. Thank you for your patience!

For those of us too old to roam
There’s nowhere better than this home;
The residents don’t sit there snoring,
You’ll seldom find that they are boring!
You can read or watch the news
And listen to all sorts of views
From people of many faiths and races
- And those who come from distant places.
Whether you’d like to munch an apple
Or attend the prayers in Chapel,
With friendly people always near
You’ll enjoy your freedom living here!

We aim to provide a home for individuals who are no longer able to live alone. Our friendly, well-trained and experienced staff provide care 24 hours a day. At St. John’s Home, we like to think we bring a special touch to caring for the elderly. Residents are treated as individuals, with dignity and respect. We do everything we can to make our residents feel welcome and at home, and to provide a caring environment in which residents feel comfortable.

Residents are actively encouraged to make choices about their own care and to maintain their independence for as long as possible, living life to the full. Our residents have the security of knowing that they can stay in St. John’s for the rest of their lives, unless hospital treatment is specifically required.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about St John’s Home is the sense of continuity. Although residents, staff, and Sisters change, visitors often remark after a lapse of many years that the family atmosphere remains the same.
