Our New Dementia Care Appeal has been launched!
2011 sees the commencement of a brand new fundraising appeal here in the home.
Having provided care for the elderly for almost 140 years, we have always prided ourselves in offering first class facilities and high standards of care for our residents. At St. John’s Home, we like to think we bring a special touch to caring for the elderly. Residents are treated as individuals, with dignity and respect, and are actively encouraged to live life to the full.
Sadly, over the past few years many potential residents have had to be turned away because we do not currently have the special facilities or skills to care for those suffering from dementia.
We now need to adapt to new circumstances so that existing and future residents who develop confusion and increased short-term memory problems will be able to remain and continue to be cared for in a safe environment at St. John’s Home.
We are all very excited about the project as we know that the provision of excellent and specialist care can make a huge difference to the quality of life of a person with dementia. As we will have such a huge amount of money to find to implement all the changes we have planned.. we have already started to raise funds for our new project.
The Bishop of Oxford, The Rt Revd John Pritchard, is Patron of our Appeal:
“I have been very glad to hear of the innovative thinking now going on around a dementia project at St. John’s. This is clearly very timely as we become more conscious of the scale of the issue in contemporary society and in the future. Dementia has come home to my family as well and I’m well aware of the need for skilled support and the potential of a well-thought through project with a Christian ethos. All spiritual strength to your elbow.”
